Today we left […] for our “Rheinfahrt” […] There was a tremendous crowd on board, - a collection of freaks. Such ugly women I never in my life beheld & most of them shapeless into the bargain! There were a great many Americans - some of the most objectionable types with terrible voices & worse slang.
