Barriers. What are they? Why they are there? What we can do about them?
This new interactive programme will take you on a creative exploration at the peace walls, interfaces and barriers that exist in communities across Northern Ireland.
Explore the history of the dividing walls and barriers, find out who 'owns' them and how they have come to considered artworks and celebrated as tourist attractions in their own right.
Through this programme you will:
-- Take a virtual tour of Belfast's walls with Dead Centre Tours;
-- Examine the history of peace wall design with Deirdre Robb from Belfast Exposed;
-- Work with artist Lesley Cherry to design your own artwork solution for a peace wall. What will you design?
-- Engage with other participants through Zoom calls and share your work with others through Slack.
This programme will be delivered online via video calls. Sessions are at 10.30am on each of the following dates:
Tuesday 6 October, Tuesday 13 October, Thursday 15 October, Tuesday 20 October and Tuesday 27 October.
This programme is FREE and open to anyone based in Northern Ireland or border counties. In order to take part you must be able to commit to all of the programme sessions.
