A few months back, the PRONI team delivered this virtual engagement programme for the 100 Shared Stories strand of Making the Future.
Border Sounds brought 21 participants from border communities together to share the sights, sounds, and stories of life on the border.
Over the course of six sessions, participants took part in a series of creative workshops, including:
- Haiku Writing with Shelley Tracy
- Sound Recording with Camilla Meegan (Póca Productions) and Jude Mullan
- Virtual tour of PRONI’s archives to learn more about how we preserve our shared history.
Each participant received a virtual reality kit in the post and joined Jamie McRoberts (Lead VR/AR Developer at Retinize) for a fascinating introduction to virtual reality storytelling.
Together with the group, the PRONI and Nerve Centre teams are creating a virtual reality film of life on the border. The film will take viewers on a journey along the Irish border through haikus and sounds, following stories of everyday life by those who lived near or on the border. Watch this space!
