The Women in the Archives team in PRONI have wrapped up on their HERstory Time Capsule programme with the wonderful women of the SPUDS group in Portadown.
After an enjoyable eight weeks which included scrapbooking, life story playlists and trips to PRONI and the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum, the group buried their time capsule in the grounds of Drumcree Community Centre. The capsule will be dug up and opened in 50 years on May 21, 2069.
Over the weeks the women have engaged with archives and museums and reflected on their own history and the history of their local area. With this in mind, they have left a capsule full of information that is personal to them, and information about life in 2019 that they hope will tell people in 50 years who they were and how they lived.
The group have also left a scrapbook behind in PRONI that details them, the programme and leaves instructions on where to find the capsule and when to open it.
The Making the Future Community Engagement Officer Laura, Curator Lynsey and Creative Media Trainer Jude, from the Nerve Centre, have had a really enjoyable few weeks delivering this programme and would like to say a huge thank you to the ladies of SPUDS for their enthusiasm, energy and work each week.
